This webinar will explore how Indonesia’s foreign policy under President Prabowo Subianto may impact Australia and France.

On October 20, 2024, Prabowo Subianto was inaugurated as the eighth president of Indonesia. As a retired general and former Defence Minister, Prabowo brings a wealth of military and strategic experience to his leadership. As president-elect he has reassured audiences of the continuity of Indonesian non-alignment, while also indicating a more assertive stance.

Yet, his future foreign policy position remains unclear. Experts anticipate a pragmatic stance towards major powers, a more assertive foreign policy, but remain uncertain about his approach to specific issues, such as the South China Sea.

In this webinar NSC's Dr Frédéric Grare will be joined by Juliette Loesch, Dr Fitriani and Dr Gatra Priyandita to explore how Indonesia’s foreign policy under President Prabowo Subianto may impact Australia and France.
